It's already April 12 in Japan, which means it's been one year since the anime adaptation of the manga "Oshi no Ko" premiered in Japan. The anime about idols gained immediate popularity from its first episode. Fans praised its impeccable animation, unique storyline, and catchy soundtrack. The plot and characters are the main reasons why "Oshi no Ko" is so successful to date.

The series portrays the Japanese idol industry from a dark and often unsettling perspective, shedding light on the exploitation and abuse that can occur behind the scenes. The characters are complex and flawed, and the series isn't afraid to explore their darker sides.

However, the plot isn't the only reason why "Oshi no Ko" is so popular. The animation and music are also exceptional. The series features amazing visuals and a soundtrack of astonishing beauty. The voice acting is also top-notch, and the seiyus bring the characters to life in an authentic and nuanced way. The question of why "Oshi no Ko" is so popular cannot be answered in a simple way, but we can only assume that its novelty is being appreciated by viewers.

To celebrate this one-year anniversary, the debut episode of the first season, titled "Oshi no Ko: Mother and Children," will be released again in theaters in Japan on June 7. But that's not all, before the premiere of the second season in June, the sequel will have an early release on June 30 in select theaters in Japan, with a special event that will include the participation of the voice cast. In addition, more information about the second season will be revealed on May 26.

The first season premiered during the Japanese season and had a total of eleven episodes, while the HIDIVE platform is in charge of its distribution in the West. For their part, Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari began publishing the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020.
